Local Activities

  • Fish from the bank of the river or launch your boat nearby from Stewart’s Landing, which is approximately ¼ of a mile down the road.  There is a great place to pull your boat up for the night near the cabin.
  • Several types of fishing are available.
  • The river in front of the cabin is the West end of Greers Ferry Lake, where you can easily boat to for more fishing and water sports.
  • The Little Red River is great for canoeing and kayaking.  When the water is flowing well, canoeing from the Shirley Bridge down to the cabin is a great day trip.  It is recommended that you get an early start in order to watch the sunrise and nature come to life with the new day.
  • Sandiff Road is perfect for walking, bicycling, and jogging.  There are numerous birds and other types of wildlife to enjoy.
  • Hike up the hill behind the cabin, and explore the woods and bluffs.
  • In cooler weather, enjoy the fireplace while popping corn and watching your favorite movies or football games.
  • In the Fall, boat rides and hiking provide spectacular views of the beautiful foliage.
  • Hang out in the hot tub or curl up with your favorite book on the screened-in porch, or with a nice cup of coffee in the living or dining room to enjoy the view.
  • Fairfield Bay is a small town located about 15 minutes away, with numerous amenities and activities that can be enjoyed year-round.  Fairfield Bay has 2 golf courses, tennis courts, fitness center, bowling alley, and miniature golf course.
  • Cravens is a nice-sized grocery store located 5 miles from the cabin, on Highway 16 near the entrance of Fairfield Bay.  There is also a Dollar General at the same location.
